TITLE: Paleothic Chisel.

200yr old mulberry wood embracing a single sliver of pink and chocolate agate. This piece of agate flows beautifully with the grain of the mulberry knot that caresses it. The chocolate brown creating an effect that the wood grain is liquified and oozing into the waves of pink much like a paint pour. Surrounded by metallic pearlescent green and shaped like a jade chisel, Pounamu toki (adzes) and whao (chisels) were shaped for different types of work. A wide flat blade was ideal for felling trees. Small flat chisels were used for detailed wood carving. Gouge chisels could be used to create intricate surface patterns.
Garnished with an ever so dainty sprig of white asparagus fern and wrapped with a traditional toki lashing in black.
